Saturday saw another bumper day of entertainment at Rochdale Exchange when a life-size dragon roamed the mall all in the name of bringing some positivity to the town centre as part of the Wizarding World at The Exchange event! As well as the fearsome dragon there were wizards making potions and spells with the little ones for them to take home in special bottles made into necklaces – with over 500 made in just four hours, and our free face painter turned over 200 children into princesses, unicorns, dragons, witches and much more!
Muggles and Wizards alike joined in the fun as Harry Potter’s Platform 9 and ¾’s rolled into town for some great photos with the families, while the VR gaming setup had queues all day long with youngsters eager to learn how to make magic in an imaginary world! Over 10,000 came through the shopping centre on Saturday which showed an increase of almost 20% on the previous year’s numbers through the door on the same Saturday, which is really encouraging in what is continuing to be a tough trading time for retailers in the town centre.
